Josep Maria Valentí Guerra, known as El Chacho, is a retired Catalan Gypsy musician and singer born on November 11, 1940, in el Raval, Barcelona. He grew up in the Portal neighborhood and was a contemporary of notable artists like Peret and El Pescaílla. While they excelled with the guitar, he was the first to incorporate the piano into rumba, creating a more melodic style. His career, starting in 1965, included the release of 6 LPs and 20 EPs, along with acting in a film. He retired in 1994, but returned to perform occasionally, and in 2014, he became honorary president of FORCAT.
