José González Cristóbal, known artistically as El Presi, was an Asturian singer born on December 9, 1908, in Xixón. He was a prominent figure in traditional Asturian music, particularly tonada, and performed various musical genres. In 1934, he joined the Compañía Asturiana de Comedies and the group Los Pamperos while also performing as a flamenco singer. He recorded numerous songs that became part of Asturian cultural heritage, many accompanied by guitarist Fermín Sánchez Chelín. He passed away on June 12, 1983, also in Xixón.
