Gabriel Eladio Peguero Vega, known as Yayo el Indio, was a Puerto Rican singer born on March 18, 1920, in Juana Díaz. He began his career at the age of 16 and gained fame through performances with notable orchestras. Peguero participated in numerous American broadcasts, recorded with various Latin artists, and joined the legendary Sonora Matancera in 1971. Throughout his career, he toured extensively and contributed to many recordings, leaving a significant mark on Latin music. He was posthumously inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2001, recognizing his influence and contributions.
