Eldar Safarov, born on January 4, 1957, in Zəhmət, Zəngibasar, is a notable Azerbaijani political and military figure. He served as a member of the first convocation of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan. From 1994 to 2000, he led the Political Analysis and Forecasting Department of the YAP Executive Secretariat. He was also press secretary for presidential candidate Heydar Aliyev in 1998, and held the position of chief of the press service of the Ministry of Defense from 2007 to 2013.
