Eli Hileli (1947-2004) was the mayor of Dimona from 1983 to 1989. He was born in Tunisia and immigrated to Israel at eight. After serving in the military, he studied political science at the Hebrew University and worked in the Foreign Ministry. He rose to mayor after serving as deputy mayor and initiated significant cultural and infrastructural developments in Dimona. Despite failing to secure re-election, he continued to serve in various leadership roles, including in elderly care. He passed away from cancer, leaving behind a legacy of community service.
