Eli Zeira is a former Israeli general born in 1928, best known for his role as the head of Israeli Military Intelligence during the Yom Kippur War in 1973. He is infamously known for his erroneous assessment before the war that Egypt and Syria would not attack Israel, despite his background in intelligence. Following the war, the Agranat Commission found Zeira to be neglectful in his duties, resulting in his resignation. In 2004, he faced allegations from former Mossad director Tzvi Zamir regarding the leak of Ashraf Marwan's identity, which led to a criminal investigation that was closed in 2012.
