Elias Salupeto Pena (1952-1992) was an Angolan politician and a prominent leader of the UNITA rebel movement during Angola's Civil War. He was the nephew of UNITA's founder, Jonas Savimbi. In 1974, he joined UNITA and held significant roles, particularly during military engagements. Pena played a key part in peace negotiations with the MPLA and served as Minister of Agriculture in UNITA-controlled areas. He was assassinated in the Halloween Massacre of 1992, where he was captured and tortured by government forces while attempting to negotiate on behalf of UNITA.
