Elissa Panush Benedek, born on September 28, 1936, is an esteemed American psychiatrist renowned for her expertise in child and adolescent psychiatry as well as forensic psychiatry. She is an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Michigan Medical Center and was the director of research and training at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry for 25 years. Benedek served as the president of the American Psychiatric Association from 1990 to 1991 and has notably contributed to the understanding of child abuse and trauma, ethics, and domestic violence.
