Elizabeth Kathleen Turner (1914-1999) was a pioneering Australian physician, notably the first in Australia to administer penicillin. She served as Medical Superintendent of the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne from 1943 to 1946. Turner achieved several firsts in Australian medicine, including performing the first exchange transfusion for severe Rh incompatibility and identifying the first official case of Turner Syndrome. In recognition of her contributions, she was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia in 1991, and the Elizabeth Turner Medal was named in her honor by the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne after her passing.
