In 2010, she became the rector of the Sami Secondary School and Reindeer Herding School in Kautokeino. Hætta made history in June 2014 by being appointed to the board of NRK, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, as the first Sami member, highlighting her significant contributions to education and media in Norway.
