Ellen R. Stofan, born February 24, 1961, is a prominent scientist associated with NASA. She served as the chief advisor to NASA Administrator Charles Bolden in scientific programs, planning, and investments. Prior to this role, she held the position of Vice President of Research at Proxemy in Laytonsville, Maryland. Stofan has also been a faculty member at University College London as an honorary professor in the Earth Sciences department. She resigned from NASA in December 2016.
