Elmar Setzer Marseille was a Mexican politician born on December 5, 1937, in Chilón, Chiapas. He was a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and served as the Governor of Chiapas for a little over a year from 1993 to 1994. Setzer, a law graduate from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, held various political positions including municipal president of Yajalón and deputy in the Chiapas Congress. He resigned from the governorship in January 1994 following the Zapatista uprising, effectively ending his public political career.
