Elsa Astete Millán was an Argentine writer and the first wife of famous Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges. They married on September 21, 1967, during which she was a widow and he was 68 years old. Their marriage lasted only three years, ending in divorce in 1970. Initially living with Borges's mother, their relationship soured due to jealousy, leading them to move out on their own. In a 1993 interview, she expressed her unhappiness with Borges, describing him as introverted, detached, and unrealistic about the world.
