Else Germeten (née Knutson) was a prominent Norwegian women's group executive, film censor, and Labour Party member. Born on August 8, 1918, in Kristiania, she completed her education at Oslo Cathedral School and studied English and literature, graduating in 1941. She led the Norwegian Housewives' Association from 1959 to 1969 and directed the National Film Censorship from 1978 to 1987. She was also a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee and engaged in various political committees. Germeten passed away on September 11, 1992.
