Elsie Mari Bates Freund (1912–2001) was an American studio art jeweler, watercolorist, and textile artist. She co-founded an art school with her husband in Eureka Springs in 1941, focusing on crafts such as weaving and design. She developed a unique jewelry-making process using clay, glass, and later silver, known as 'Elsa.' Freund's works are featured in prestigious institutions, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She passed away in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 2001.
