Elyas bin Omar (16 November 1936 – 15 May 2018) was a prominent Malaysian politician and sports administrator. He served as the third Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, holding the position for an impressive 12 years. Notably, Elyas was the president of the Badminton Association of Malaysia, leading the national team to victory at the Thomas Cup in 1992. He also presided over the Kuala Lumpur FA during its remarkable three consecutive Malaysia Cup wins from 1987 to 1989. His tenure as Mayor ended on 17 November 1992 when he was succeeded by Mazlan Ahmad.
