Enrique Jordá was a Spanish-American conductor born on March 24, 1911, in San Sebastián, Spain, and later became a US citizen. He served as the music director of the San Francisco Symphony from 1954 to 1963, acclaimed for his recordings of Spanish music. Notably, he conducted the world premiere of Joaquín Rodrigo's Fantasía para un gentilhombre. He was involved with various orchestras, including the London Symphony and National Symphony, producing many significant recordings. Jordá also published a conducting book and guest conducted internationally before his death on March 18, 1996.
