Enrique Riera Escudero is a Paraguayan lawyer and politician, born on February 10, 1959, in Asuncion. He has held various significant positions, including the Minister of the Interior since 2023, under President Santiago Peña. Prior to this role, he served as a national senator from 2018 to 2023, elected from the Colorado Party. Riera Escudero succeeded Luis Castiglioni as senator and was re-elected in the general elections of 2023. He also held the position of mayor of Asuncion from 2001 to 2006 and was the Minister of Education and Culture from 2016 to 2018.
