Mauro Enrique Tello Quiñones was a Mexican military officer who served during Mexico's Drug War. He was a Brigadier General and commanded the 21st Military Zone based in Michoacán. He was kidnapped and murdered on February 3, 2009, in Cancún, shortly after being appointed as a security advisor. His body was found tortured and exhibiting severe injuries. The National Defense Secretariat honored him on February 4, 2009, recognizing his service and sacrifice in the fight against drug trafficking.
