Eratóstenes Alves Frazão was a Brazilian composer and journalist born on January 17, 1901, in Rio de Janeiro. He was the son of conductor Sebastião Alves Frazão and began learning flute and guitar at twelve. He studied music theory and initially pursued veterinary medicine before choosing journalism. Frazão worked for several newspapers in Rio and later in São Paulo. He returned to Rio as a parliamentary chronicler and collaborated with Antonio Nássara to create numerous carnival marches, contributing significantly to Brazilian music until his death on April 17, 1977.
