John 'Eric' Davidson (1915-2009) was a survivor of the Halifax Explosion, blinded at age two during the disaster in 1917. He grew up in Halifax Commons, attended the Halifax School for the Blind, but pursued a career in auto mechanics. Davidson became a mechanic and was interviewed numerous times about his experiences. He left a legacy as a courageous survivor, documented in various media and by his daughter in the biography 'The Blind Mechanic'. His death in 2009 left only one living survivor of the explosion.
