Eric Michael Garcetti is an American politician, born on February 4, 1971, in Los Angeles. He currently serves as the 42nd mayor of Los Angeles and is a member of the Democratic Party. Garcetti has a rich local history, being a fourth-generation Angeleno. He served on the Los Angeles City Council from 2001 and was its president from 2006 to 2012. Elected mayor in 2013 and successfully re-elected four years later, Garcetti is notable as the first Jewish mayor and the youngest ever to hold the office, also being of Mexican descent.
