Eric Manvers Shooter was an English scientist, born on April 18, 1924, in Nottinghamshire. He was renowned for his research on the biochemistry of nerve growth factor (NGF). His significant contributions to science were recognized during his tenure at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he became the founding chairman of the Department of Neurobiology from 1975 to 1987. Shooter's work greatly advanced the understanding of neurobiology until his passing on March 21, 2018.
