Eric Nisenson (1946-2003) was an American author and jazz historian born in New York City and raised in Rye, New York. He studied English at New York University and later worked on alternative publications in San Francisco. A jazz lover since age 15, he became friends with trumpeter Miles Davis and wrote his biography, Round About Midnight. Nisenson published several notable works on jazz, including biographies of John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins, along with critical assessments of jazz's evolution. He died from leukemia-related complications in 2003.
