Hendrik George Laurens (Eric) Peels is a Dutch minister, theologian, and former professor of Old Testament. He began his theological studies at the Theological College and studied Akkadian at the Free University of Amsterdam. Peels was confirmed as pastor in 1982 and became an associate professor in 1987. He completed his PhD in 1992 with a dissertation titled 'The Vengeance of God.' He served as a professor from 1993 until his retirement in 2023, where he emphasized careful exegesis of biblical texts.
