Eric Stephen Platz is a Canadian drummer, percussionist, and educator born on March 3, 1973. Active since the late 1990s, he has toured North America with diverse artists and plays multiple genres including jazz, americana, rock, and classical. Platz is a member of Carrie Rodriguez's band and the world music group Asefa, and he has appeared on PBS's Austin City Limits. He co-leads two improvisational music trios and has collaborated with notable musicians like Lucinda Williams and Bill Frisell. Currently, he teaches at Brandon University and endorses Vic Firth Drumsticks.
