Erich Süßenberger was a German meteorologist born on February 13, 1911, and died on December 1, 2007, in Offenbach am Main. He earned his doctorate in 1935 from the University of Frankfurt. Süßenberger joined the civil service in 1953 and became the head of the weather service at the DWD in 1965. He served as the third president of the DWD from 1966 until his retirement in 1977, advocating for international cooperation among national weather services and contributing to the World Meteorological Organization.
