Erich Uhlmann was a German electrical engineer known for his contributions to high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission. After studying at the Technical University of Munich and in Brunswick, he worked at AEG in Berlin. Following his emigration to Sweden in 1935 due to his Jewish background, he became a prominent expert in HVDC technology at ASEA. He established the first commercial HVDC link between Sweden and Gotland and received multiple prestigious awards for his innovative work, including the Uno Lamm Award and the VDE-Ehrenring.
