Erich Zühlsdorf was a German photographer who began his career as an apprentice reprographer at Ullstein-Verlag. A member of the Communist Youth Association, he served in the Wehrmacht and was captured by Soviet forces during World War II, joining an anti-fascist group in captivity. After the war, he worked as a photo reporter at ADN-Zentralbild and held various roles until the 1980s, including foreign correspondent and trainer, particularly in Africa. He retired in 1987 and was recognized for his contributions to journalism in 1985.
