Erik Høiem is a Norwegian visual artist born on June 28, 1938, in Trondheim. He studied at Kunstskolen in Trondheim from 1968 to 1972 and holds a mid-level degree in Art History from the University of Bergen, obtained in 1979. Since 1971, he has worked in the art field both as a visual artist and as the curator for Trondhjems Kunstforening until 1980. He then became the administrative leader of Kunstakademiet in Trondheim, with periods of teaching Art History, before returning to full-time artistry.
