Erik Tychsen was a Danish school teacher and politician, serving as the mayor of the old Billund Municipality from 1982 until his resignation in 2002. Elected for the Venstre party, Tychsen began his teaching career after graduating from Kolding Seminarium in 1967 and moved to Billund. He was first elected to the municipal council in 1970 and became chairman of the social committee from 1974 to 1978. His long tenure as mayor lasted for 20 years until he stepped down due to illness.
