Erling Følner (18 November 1919 – 10 October 1991) was a renowned Danish mathematician recognized for his work on the Følner sequence. He was a professor at the Technical University of Denmark from 1954 to 1974. Følner collaborated with Harald Bohr on a survey of almost periodic functions, which he expanded upon in his doctoral dissertation. His international recognition stems from the Følner sequence's role in determining the amenability of groups. He was married to Ellen Bohr and had a son, architect Per Følner, who co-founded Fogh & Følner architectural firm.
