Ernest Edward Boniface Perera (29 November 1932 – 16 August 2013) was the 23rd Inspector General of the Sri Lanka Police, serving from 1988 to 1993. Born in Colombo, he graduated with a Bachelor of Economics in 1956 and joined the police force in 1957. Perera held various positions, including Deputy Inspector General of Police, before becoming IGP. Notably, during his tenure, he instructed police to surrender to the LTTE, resulting in a massacre that intensified the Eelam War. He later served as Sri Lanka's High Commissioner in Malaysia before his retirement.
