He was the co-founder and first chief of the Special Operations Group (GEO) within the National Police Corps. García-Quijada expressed the need for such a unit three months before his tragic death in a traffic accident on August 4, 1979, in Granada. His legacy remains tied to the advancement of police operations in Spain.
