Ernesto Holman, born on December 6, 1950, in Viña del Mar, is a Chilean bassist and composer known for pioneering the etnojazz subgenre. He was a member of the influential Latin American fusion group Congreso from 1980 to 1984 and has led several personal projects, including Holman Trío. Recognized as one of the most important electric bassists in Chile's jazz fusion and progressive rock scenes, Holman focuses on using the bass as a melodic instrument, not just a rhythmic one. He is the father of musician Pablo Holman, who is part of the Chilean band Kudai.
