Ernst Gröschel was a German pianist born on December 9, 1918, in Nuremberg. He began his music education at the age of nine and graduated from the Nuremberg Conservatory in 1938. After military service, he studied under Emil von Sauer in Vienna. Known for his performances on historical keyboard instruments, he was the first pianist to play complete works of Mozart and Beethoven on such instruments. Gröschel gained recognition in Germany and abroad, touring countries like Holland, Sweden, and Switzerland. He left behind numerous recordings, including both vinyl and CDs.
