Erwin Witte (1911-1997) was a German U-boat officer who served in the Kriegsmarine. Joining the navy in 1935, he underwent U-boat training and took on various responsibilities including serving as a watch officer on U-47 and U-43. He later commanded U-155 towards the end of World War II. Witte's career was marked by a series of promotions and several accolades reflecting his service, including Iron Crosses and the Submarine Badge. He was captured by British forces in May 1945.
