Esko Oiva Marttinen is a former Finnish biathlete born on January 15, 1938, in Kajaani. He was notable for starting as number 1 in the biathlon competition at the 1964 Winter Olympics, where he finished 23rd, the lowest position among Finnish competitors. His performance included a total time of 1:24:50.2 and five shooting errors that resulted in ten penalty minutes. Marttinen achieved greater success at the 1969 Biathlon World Championships in Zakopane, where he and his team won a bronze medal in the relay event.
