Sillaste was a member of the Estonian national team from 1960 to 1967 and became the national champion in backstroke and relay swimming seven times from 1962 to 1967. She has worked as a swimming teacher and coach at various sports schools and clubs, including SharK since 2007, training notable swimmers like Katrin Kulbas and Terje Tomson.
