Esther Heins (1908-2007) was an American artist and scientific illustrator best known for her exquisite botanical illustrations. Born on November 10, 1908, in Brooklyn, New York, she trained at the Massachusetts School of Art. Initially a commercial artist, Heins honed her skills in botanical art, creating a series of watercolor paintings of plants at the Arnold Arboretum. Her illustrations culminated in the book 'Flowering Trees and Shrubs.' Heins passed away on December 3, 2007, at the age of 99, with her artwork included in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
