Dayris Estrella Estévez Carrera is a transgender activist from Ecuador, born on June 7, 1972, in Yaruquí. She co-founded Coccinelle, the first transgender organization in Ecuador, and played a crucial role in the 1997 movement to decriminalize homosexuality in the country. In 2009, after a lengthy legal battle, she became the first transgender woman in Ecuador to change her identification card to reflect her female gender, marking a significant achievement in the fight for LGBT rights in Ecuador.
