Eugene Andrew 'Gene' Cernan was an American astronaut, naval aviator, electrical engineer, aerospace engineer, and fighter pilot. He participated in the Gemini 9A mission and served as the commander of Apollo 17. Cernan was the eleventh and last person to walk on the Moon, achieving this historic feat on December 13, 1972.
