Eugenio Agirretxe Azpillaga was a Basque writer, Franciscan priest, and speaker born on November 15, 1920, in Errezil, Gipuzkoa, and passed away on July 7, 2005, in Bermeo, Bizkaia. He became a Franciscan friar in Zarautz in 1937 and celebrated his first mass in Errezil in 1944. Agirretxe published articles in several magazines including Aranzazu, Anaitasuna, Goiz Argi, and Zeruko Argia. In 1995, he released a memory book focused on that period and Arantzazu, and in 1998, he was appointed an honorary Euskaltzain for his contributions.
