Eusi Kwayana, born Sydney King on April 4, 1925, is a notable Guyanese politician and playwright. He served as a cabinet minister in the People's Progressive Party (PPP) government in 1953, but was detained by British authorities the following year. He then left the PPP to establish the African Society for Cultural Relations with Independent Africa (ASCRIA), a Pan-African political organization. After a short association with Forbes Burnham's People's National Congress (PNC), ASCRIA merged into the Working People's Alliance (WPA).
