Evelyn Ashamallah is an Egyptian visual artist born in 1948 in Desouk, Kafr El Sheikh. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University in 1973. After graduation, she married journalist Mahmoud Yousry. Evelyn is a founding member of the Egyptian Artists Syndicate, has held over 22 exhibitions by 2005, and worked as a journalist at Rose Al-Youssef magazine from 1973 to 1975. She also served as the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Egypt from 2000 until her resignation in 2002.
