Evelyn Marie Gillespie is a former Canadian politician born on April 1, 1952. She represented the Comox Valley riding as an MLA in the British Columbia Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 2001 under the New Democratic Party. Gillespie was also the Minister of Women's Equality from November 2000 to June 2001. She graduated from the University of British Columbia in recreation education. Before her political career, she coordinated volunteer programs for shelters and health departments, and she currently operates the Laughing Oyster Bookshop in Courtenay, BC.
