Evrard Somda, born on January 24, 1981, is a Burkinabè gendarmerie officer and statesman. He served as the chief of staff of the national gendarmerie of Burkina Faso. Somda was born in Dissin and studied law at the University of Ouagadougou, holding Master's degrees in criminal science and human resources. His military career includes leadership roles in special intervention units, peacekeeping in Guinea-Bissau, and security for Prime Minister Tertius Zongo. Following a coup in February 2022, he was appointed to his current position.
