Evrik Afrikyan was an Armenian microbiologist and a notable figure in biological sciences. Born on May 14, 1925, in Yerevan, he earned his Doctorate in Biological Sciences in 1970 and became a professor in 1972. Afrikyan was elected as an academician of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences in 1982. In recognition of his contributions, he was honored as a Distinguished Scientist of the Republic of Armenia in 2003. He passed away on July 19, 2016.
