Peacock in Glasgow and held numerous leadership roles, including board member and chairman of various shipping and fishing organizations. He served as the Honorary British Consul in the Faroe Islands and was well-connected, being the son of shipowner Jógvan Fríðrik Kjølbro and uncle to politician Karin Kjølbro.
