Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Fachri Ahmad, M.Sc. is an Indonesian expert in soil science, academic, bureaucrat, and politician born on December 11, 1940. He served as the Deputy Governor of West Sumatra from 2000 to 2005 and was a member of the Regional Representative Council of Indonesia from 1997 to 1999. He held the position of Rector of Andalas University from 1993 to 1997 and of Bung Hatta University from 1998 to 2000. In 2012, he was appointed as the Acting Rector of Bung Hatta University, replacing Hafrijal Syandri.
